New South Wales mine operators can now submit their annual work health and safety reports online, with the digital resources portal accepting submissions until July 31.
A work health and safety report is a comprehensive document consisting of wide-ranging information including number of injuries, illness and total hours worked at the mine.
This type of information is used by the NSW Resources Regulator in preparing key statistical data on incidents in the mining sector.
Operators must submit these at the end of each financial year.
Certain mine operators are not required to submit a report, such as operators of exploration sites or non-coal mines where the total number of hours worked at the mine during the relevant financial year was less than 10,000 hours.
The portal will help operators determine whether a report is required.
Operators should already have account details to the portal to file a report for all mines under them.
Should you require a user account to be set up for the portal, or to add a mine you operate to your existing user account, then you will need to submit a request to the regulator.
The request should be made by a person in authority or a statutory position holder, and include: name and position title of representatives requiring a user account, contact phone number of representatives, email address of representatives, and a list of all mines the representatives require portal access to.
