Liebherr unveils new haul truck with enhanced safety

Liebherr has launched the class-leading T 274 mining truck which promises enhanced safety features and comfort for operators.

The 305-tonne T 274 uses the same base design as the larger T 284 which has recorded more than 20 million operating hours.

Liebherr has designed the new truck to operate safely and efficiently on downhill hauls thanks to its 6035-horsepower dynamic braking power for the class-leading 3650-horsepower engine.

The T 274 is also equipped with double A-arm suspension to ensure the tyre maintains optimal ground contact within the suspension stroke. This can help reduce the tread and wear with its optimised camber and toe angle.

“These properties of the front suspension system deliver superior comfort, safety, and handling for the T 274 operators, improving the ride quality and reducing overall body vibration exposure,” Liebherr stated.

The T 274 is further bolstered by its cabin design, which features tinted safety glass windows and is certified for roll-over and falling-object protection.

All of Liebherr’s trucks offer at least two safety exit routes from the cab to the ground and are kitted with ladders and platform for convenient engine access.

Liebherr has also ensured its trucks contain ground level maintenance access for safe servicing.

The T 274 can be optioned with the Liebherr Trolley Assist System, which uses an overhead pantograph to connect its electric-drive system to an electrical network.

This can enable increased truck fleet productivity, reducing fleet size while maintaining production rates and a reduction of diesel fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Thanks to its powerful engine and hydraulic design, the T 274 is capable of moving more material in less time with the largest payload capacity in its class.
