Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology has enhanced its OptiMine platform with evacuation mode to help lead people to rescue chambers safely.
The evacuation mode is capable of searching the nearest safe places underground and provides the visibility of personnel locations.
It guides workers to the nearest refuge chamber depending on their locations as well as the rescue chamber capacities to accommodate more people.
The tool joins Sandvik’s latest extensions to OptiMine, which include smart scheduling and playback feature, for added visibility.
OptiMine playback is built on the 3D mine visualiser module and contains recorded data of locations and statuses of assets and people that were underground.
“Understanding and improving operations in real time changes the game,” Sandvik BU Automation, OptiMine product line manager Petri Mannonen said.
“Our customers are gaining higher efficiency and producing more tons each day as they act on these insights. Information and visibility of the operations make mining safer, more productive and more sustainable.”
OptiMine is a suite of digital tools that optimise mining production and processes.
It can be integrated with Newtrax internet of things (IoT) devices to deliver data from asset, people and equipment.
