Western Australia’s mining sector is set to converge at the WA Mining Conference & Exhibition 2026 (WA Mining), returning to the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre on September 16–17 with a high-impact program designed to inspire, inform and drive the industry forward.
Across two powerful days, delegates will gain direct access to senior leaders, technical experts and industry innovators tackling the most critical challenges and opportunities facing WA mining today.
From digital transformation and decarbonisation to investment and workforce evolution, the 2026 program delivers the insights needed to stay competitive in WA’s rapidly changing landscape.
Day One opens with Aaron Walker, Head of Economics at the Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA, setting the scene with key market insights and economic trends shaping the sector. This is followed by Romana Dew, Senior Spatial Scientist at CSIRO, who will explore how AI, automation and advanced data systems are revolutionising mining in the Digital & Autonomous Transformation session.
The spotlight then turns to the future workforce, with Kate Flanagan, Chief Technology & Information Officer at Hancock Iron Ore, and Luke Forsyth, Partner at Deloitte Technology and Transformation, leading The Human–Machine Partnership, a compelling discussion on how organisations can successfully integrate people and technology in increasingly automated operations.
Energy and investment will also take centre stage in a series of standout sessions. Geoff Batt, from the Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA), will unpack The Energy Equation, showcasing practical pathways to decarbonise operations through renewables, electrification and low-carbon fuels. Meanwhile, Stephen Land, the CIO of Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF), will deliver critical insights into Competing for Global Capital, outlining how WA projects can attract the investment needed to move from pipeline to production.
Workforce capability remains a key priority, with Justin Boehm, regional manager at the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA), joining industry experts for Talent for Tomorrow, exploring how businesses can build future-ready teams equipped for automation and technological change.
Day Two continues the momentum with forward-focused discussions on project approvals, circular mining, and community engagement, equipping delegates with actionable strategies to strengthen operational performance and build long-term social licence to operate.
Beyond the conference, the exhibition floor will come alive with cutting-edge technology, live demonstrations and innovative solutions from across the mining value chain. Dedicated zones, including the Transformative Tech Zone, Decarbonisation Zone and Mining Pavilion, will deliver an immersive, hands-on experience, showcasing the tools and systems driving the next generation of mining across Western Australia.
Backed by leading industry bodies including the Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC) and the Minerals Council of Australia and supported by event sponsors Blackwoods and Conveyor Integrated Business Solutions (CIBS), the WA Mining expo is set to be a defining moment for the sector.
With strong demand and limited availability, now is the time to secure your ticket to have a say in the future of mining in WA.
