WA Mining joins forces with charity to support workforce wellbeing

WA Mining Conference and Exhibition is proud to announce that it is partnering with Lifeline WA for its 2025 iteration.

Mental health continues to be a critical focus across the resources sector and the partnership between WA Mining and Lifeline WA highlights the event’s commitment to fostering safer, supportive workplaces across Western Australia’s industrial landscape.

Through the partnership, Lifeline WA will be actively involved at the event and will showcase its Resourceful Mind Program, a peer support initiative dedicated to strengthening mental health and resilience in high-pressure industries, including mining, energy, and oil and gas.

Developed in partnership with The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CMEWA), Resourceful Mind was created to equip site-based and remote workers with practical tools to support one another, reduce stigma and respond confidently to mental health challenges.

CEO of Lifeline WA, Lorna MacGregor said that since its launch in 2021, the program has trained more than 500 peer supporters across 30 organisations.

“Programs like Resourceful Mind are designed not just for individuals, but for the communities around them: the families, friends, and peers who often provide the first line of support. Everyone connected to the sector has a role to play,” MacGregor said. “Through our partnership and programs like Resourceful Mind, we provide training, resources, and ongoing guidance for workers who want to look after each other on site.

“Our involvement in WA Mining increases our visibility amongst workers, leaders and communities deeply affected by the demands of the resources sector.

“Partnering with WA Mining allows Lifeline WA to embed mental health into industry-wide conversations and ensure support is accessible across all levels. Events like WA Mining put people at the centre of industry progress.”

As part of the partnership, Lifeline WA will be present at WA Mining, offering delegates an opportunity to engage directly with the team. The charity will also take part in WA Mining’s conference program and will provide valuable insights into the state of mental health within the sector and the importance of mental health awareness, prevention,
and support services across the industry.

General Manager of Events at Prime Creative Media Siobhan Rocks said that as the demands on workers across the mining sector continue to grow, so too does the acknowledgement that a resilient workforce is one whose mental wellbeing is safeguarded alongside physical safety and productivity.

“Lifeline WA brings that vision to life, delivering targeted programs that help teams foster connection, confidence, and care in even the most isolated or high-stress environments,” Rocks said.

“Lifeline WA is doing essential work that speaks directly to the needs of our sector. Their approach to mental health aligns perfectly with our mission to support the people driving this industry forward.”

The 2024 event saw more than 3000 attendees across the two-day event, and 2025 is on track to surpass this visitation. With such a high level of engagement anticipated for 2025, WA Mining offers a powerful platform to spotlight the importance of mental health in the workplace and inspire companies across the sector to make it a priority.
